What is Global Education? The aim of global education is to encourage and guide students as they explore the world. Students are curious and interested in the people, places and happenings of the world and global education captures this interest and helps students become globally competent. What is global competence? Globally competent students: 1. Investigate the world beyond their home, community or school. They seek to understand problems and issues beyond their immediate environment. 2. Recognize perspectives of people who may or may not share their world view. They seek to understand how their own perspective shapes their view of the world and how this may differ from others. 3. Communicate ideas with diverse audiences. They seek to communicate effectively while negotiating cultural, linguistic and world view differences. 4. Take action to improve the lives of others. Through careful consideration of the perspectives and issues faced by others, students take action to contribute positively to the world. Information taken from the Asia Society http://asiasociety.org
